A virus attacks the unit used to run programs on the computer called the central processing unit or CPU for short. Worms carry payloads which are comprised of other types of malware, backdoor installations or spyware. Spyware is a monitoring program that can keep an eye on activities on your computer and backdoor programs set up hidden access points used by hackers to steal your information or send spam.

My Doom sent out at the beginning of 2004, was the fastest spreading worm to date. The worm came in the form of an email with the message “andy; I’m just doing my job, nothing personal, sorry.”

Although the culprit was never found, its intended victim is thought to have been a software company called Santa Cruz Operation or SCO for short.

When a person opened this email, the worm was programmed to overwhelm SCO’s website with traffic. The worm spread through the internet and caused a massive slow down.

For the individual computer, the worm’s payload is more serious because it allows ports to be opened on the computer where hackers have access to steal or delete information. In addition, a payload may come with a program to attack your antivirus software and disable it.

Using firewalls will help protect your computer. Firewalls reduce traffic and hide your computer. In this state, you are less likely to be attacked by worms spread over the network.

Be careful not to open suspicious emails and if you don’t know the person or get and unexpected email don’t open it. If you find your computer is slow and reboots by itself or the internet is sluggish, you may have been infected. Try running antivirus software to check it out. If that doesn’t work, try to manually removing the virus. Information as to how this is done can be found on the internet.

Computer Problems due to Power Outage
The intermittent power cuts and voltage fluctuations may cause problems to the computers and disrupt your work. If there isnt adequate power back up for your system and if it gets switched off due to sudden power outage, then it may cause temporary or permanent loss of data, hardware issues etc. The best way to combat computer problems due to frequent power cuts is installing UPS (Unlimited power supply) for your PC. Even if the power goes off, the UPS will give you about 15-20 minutes of power backup. During this time, you can save the programs in which you had been working on and comfortably shut down your system without any hassle.

Drop in system speed
Most of you would have faced the problem of your system being dead slow in responding to commands. Sometimes, the system might take several minutes to execute an operation for what it should have taken only a few seconds. Slow system performance can be one of the most annoying computer problems. In such a scenario, be sure to check whether there is enough space in the hardware and also if the RAM memory is more or not. If you have stored any necessary files or folders or large videos and forgot to delete them long back, then you may get rid of them right away without wasting any more time. Perform disc defragmentation and disc cleanup to create more system space. If necessary, upgrade your RAM and hard drive for better system speed. Do the above steps and be surprised to find at least 40-50% increase in the system speed.

Speaker issues
Dejected that your speaker didnt produce any sound when your favorite song is being played on? Dont worry; this can be sorted out easily. Check at the back of your CPU whether all the wires from the speaker are plugged properly in the appropriate places or not. It is very common that the wires may be in loose contact. See the color of the wires and plug them into the right holes and make sure there isnt any loose contact. Once everything is perfectly done, then start enjoying your favorite music as you wish.
Computer producing Strange Noise
Note that the noise problems are completely associated with the hardware parts of your system. In such a case, switch off the system and unplug the power supply. Remove the CPU box and clean it and allow it to cool down for some time. Now reassemble the parts and make sure there isnt any lose contact. Your system is ready to go noiseless!

Computer Reboots Itself frequently
If your system reboots itself over and over again, then check whether there is any fault in the hardware connections or not. Sometimes, low voltage and power outage may hit the CPU and cause the system to reboot frequently. An ineffective cooling fan at the back of your CPU could also cause such a problem. Clean the fan whenever it is covered with dirt. Place your system in a cool area in your home, preferably near the windows as the system needs cool air to prevent from getting heated up.
